Hi there, I’m Skyler , a 42-year-old homegrown cook from Asheville, North Carolina. I wasn’t trained in any fancy culinary school, and truth be told, I never planned on being a chef at all. But life has a funny way of stirring the pot when you least expect it.

My earliest memories are of standing on a wobbly kitchen stool next to my Grandma Ida, who smelled like cinnamon and always kept a pot of something bubbling on the stove. She taught me to taste with my heart and season with my soul. I still remember how proud I felt the first time she let me make her cornbread on my own, even though I forgot the salt. We both laughed so hard we cried.

Over the years, I found myself cooking more and more—not just out of necessity but out of love. I cooked through heartbreaks, new jobs, two noisy kids, and countless birthdays. Cooking became my way of showing up for people, of saying “I see you,” or “I love you,” or sometimes, just “You had a long day, sit down and eat.”

I started sharing my recipes and stories on a little blog during nap times and after the kids went to bed. I never imagined that other folks might find comfort in my kitchen too. But here we are. My style is simple, soulful, and always forgiving. I believe the best meals come from using what you have, not stressing over perfection, and never being afraid to make a glorious mess.

To every beginner out there: don’t worry about getting it "right." If your biscuits don’t rise or your soup's a little salty, that’s okay. Cooking, like life, is all about learning and loving along the way. And you’ll always find a seat at my table.

Thanks for stopping by. Let’s get cookin’!
